Hooksett: The Pizza Man

The skinny: Right over the Manchester line is a pizza parlor that could easily be added to an area resident’s rotation of takeout places. The Pizza Man, a restaurant with a few locations in the region, has plenty to offer.

Pizzas come in 12 and 18 inches, as well as the all-important mini for those nights you’re home alone or everyone else wants a grinder. Prices for the cheese variety are $5.95/$7.95/$10.15, and with toppings, the cost goes up from there.

Also noteworthy in the pizza department are some of its specialty pizzas: Philly Cheesesteak ($14.45/$18.90), which has steak, American cheese, peppers, onions and mozzarella; Mexican Taco ($13.45/$17.90), ground beef, tomatoes, black olives, onions, lettuce and salsa; and the Marty Mighty Mack ($15.45/$19.35), which has the familiar toppings of ground beef, pickles, onions, lettuce and special sauce. Customers also have the tasty option of ordering double crust for only a couple bucks more.

In addition to its pizza and calzone selections, The Pizza Man also offers gluten-free pizzas – perfect for those with celiac disease. A 7-inch cheese pie is $6.95, while a 10-inch pizza is $9.95.

Review: The pizzas here are on the thin side and have an ideal crispy crust; the cheese and toppings won’t slide off these slices when you pick them up.

And there’s no skimping on the toppings: A large pizza with the fantastic choice of a chicken finger topping was covered in huge chunks.

We both liked the sauce. Andrew thought it was a little on the spicy side, but Deidre didn’t find it that way. She found the sauce to be rich with a little bit of sweetness that paired well with the mozzarella. We both thought the amount of sauce and cheese was just right.

Andrew has already eaten a couple of the leftover slices; they’re just as good cold.

Rating: Deidre: 4.5 / Andrew: 4.5 = 9/10 slices

Pizza Man of Hooksett is great… I know the owners and have worked for them in the past… for the amount of money you pay for your food is well worth it.. And they make their own syrian bread homemade. I usually can only eat half of one of their subs and have the other half for lunch the next day…
